Prosecutors were able to pin down the person who attempted to extort Kevin Hart by videotaping him cheating on his wife, Eniko Parrish. Johnathan Todd Jackson was charged by the LA County District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday, May 2nd, with one count of extortion.
The 41-year-old man is accused of attempting to extort a huge sum of money from the legendary comedian. According to Us Weekly, Jackson is in serious trouble for taking the videotape to various news outlets and attempting to sell the footage.
Unfortunately for Jackson, it appears that no one was that interested in the material, forcing him to release all of it online.
He’s going to court on Wednesday and prosecutors have his bail sitting at the amount of $100,000. If he is convicted of his crimes, Jackson will go to prison for a maximum of four years.
Hart tweeted out that his “mind (was) blown” after the news of his arrest hit the media. If reports are correct, Hart and Jackson actually had a close relationship for a long time and had worked together for more than fifteen years.
Fans will remember when Kevin took to his social media to apologize for his actions after the tape came out. The action was probably a preemptive attempt to take the power away from Jackson, who would sell the tape online if Kevin didn’t comply with his demands.
Kevin posted a video on Instagram to say he was sorry to his wife and his kids. He said, “I gotta do better and I will.” Following the reports, his ex-wife spoke with reporters from Us Weekly on the matter and said she basically wasn’t that surprised by the scandal.
As you may know, Torrei Hart believes that Eniko and Kevin were having an affair while she and Kevin were married. The business owner formerly said, “numbers don’t lie.”
