Today, the rap star took to his platform of choice, Twitter, to reveal something very shocking and personal. According to Kanye West, in the past, he had contemplated suicide!
Kim Kardashian’s husband is known for how outspoken he is, reason for which he was not afraid to let the world know he too knew all too well how it felt to want to end it all.
Apparently, Kanye was inspired to open up about his personal experience with the mental illness after watching the Alexander McQueen documentary.
As you may be aware, Alexander McQueen was a famous fashion designer who unfortunately put an end to his life back in 2010.
The British designer was found dead after hanging himself.
On July 10, a documentary on his life, simply titled ‘McQueen,’ premiered and it sounds like the rapper was very affected by the real story.
After sharing with his followers that he ‘connected’ with McQueen as he’d also thought about killing himself in a desperate final attempt to take his life into his own hands again, he went on to give the fans some advice on how to avoid suicidal thoughts.
‘How to NOT kill yourself pt 1 — Avoid being around people who make you want to kill yourself,’ he tweeted. Hmm…unfortunately, it’s not that simple, Kanye!
No matter how shocking it sounds, this is not the first time the rapper is talking about his suicidal thoughts.
Last month, during an interview with The New York Times he explained the meaning of his track ‘I Thought About Killing You,’ revealing there is both a metaphorical and literal significance to the lyrics.
‘Oh yeah, I’ve thought about killing myself all the time. It’s always an option and [expletive]. Like Louis C.K. said: I flip through the manual. I weigh all the options. I’m just having this epiphany now,
’cause I didn’t do it, but I did think it all the way through. But if I didn’t think it all the way through, then it’s actually maybe more of a chance of it happening,’ he said at the time.
What do you think about Kanye’s advice?
