Season 6 Of ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Will See The Return Of This Fan Favorite Character

Season 6 of Orange Is the New Black is finally here! While the recent sneak peek was packed with drama, we couldn’t help but notice one fan favorite who will be returning while another was missing from the action.

Season 5 of OITNB wrapped up with Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex (Laura Prepon) standing united with the other ladies of Litchfield as they waited for members of the S.W.A.T. team to end the riot. Most of the main characters were with Piper and Alex, including Nicky (Natasha Lyonne), Red (Kate Mulgrew), Gloria (Selenis Leyva), Cindy (Adrienne Moore), Freida (Dale Soules), Blanca (Laura Gomez), Suzanne (Uzo Aduba), and Taystee (Danielle Brooks).

The new season will pick up after the riot is over, and most of the ladies are in a new maximum-security joint, except for one character. Alex is nowhere to be seen in the trailer, which could mean that she and Piper are separated for good.

While Alex is missing from the action, there is one fan favorite who will be returning to the show. According to TV Line, Lolly Whitehill (Lori Petty) pops up a little after 1 minute into the trailer for Season 6. We have not seen Lolly on the show since way back in Season 4.

At the time, Lolly took one for the team and was sentenced to spend time at the prison’s psychiatric ward. It isn’t clear how much Lolly will be featured in the upcoming season, but it is good to see her back after a short hiatus.

Apart from the new trailer, Netflix release cast photos for the new season, confirming that six characters will be back for the premiere. This includes shots of Piper, Suzanne, Red, Gloria, Nicky, and Cindy. Like the trailer, the network did not feature a photo of Alex in the press release.

While this could be a cause of concern about the character’s future, Prepon recently shared a message on Twitter about wrapping up production for the new season. This means Alex will be back in action at some point, though it is not clear when she will make her appearance.

Also missing from the photos are Marisol (Jackie Cruz), Maria (Jessica Pimentel), Norma (Annie Golden), Sophia (Laverne Cox), and Carrie (Lea DeLaria).

Fans can watch all the drama unfold when the new season of Orange Is the New Black premieres on July 27 on Netflix.
