Thomas Markle – the father of the Duchess of Sussex – can’t seem to stop talking. Last month he gave a tell-all interview to Good Morning Britain that led to a ban from the royal family, and now he has given The Sun an explosive interview where he claims his daughter, Meghan Markle, is “under too much pressure” as the newest member of the royal family.
Thomas says that he can see his daughter’s pain through her eyes, face, and smile, and the 73-year-old says that there is “a high price to pay to be married to that family.” He also told the tabloid that his daughter is strong and controlling, and is someone who likes to be in charge, so her new life must be difficult.

The former Hollywood lighting director blindsided the royal family when he gave his first interview to Piers Morgan and Good Morning Britain, and since then Meghan hasn’t spoken to her father. He talked about everything from his staged photo scandal to his heart condition that kept him from walking Meghan down the aisle, but he also talked about Prince Harry’s politics – and that is a big no-no.
Sources say that after Thomas’ media interviews, the palace can’t trust him, so he won’t have any access to his daughter or get any invitations to future royal events. Staff members aren’t answering his texts, and no one is answering the phone number he had been calling to speak with Meghan. The last time he talked to her was a brief phone conversation after she got married on May 19th.
“I had a heart attack, doesn’t anybody care? I could actually die soon. Does she want this to be the last thing we’ve said to each other?” Thomas said. “It is probably the longest time I have gone without speaking to her ever. I just want to clear the air and tell her how proud I am of her. If I had one message for her, it would be that I’m sorry for anything that went wrong. He then started to get emotional and addressed his daughter directly by saying that he missed her very much. Thomas also sighed and said that his daughter shunning him for life isn’t going to happen.
Meanwhile, Meghan enjoyed a royal girls’ day recently with Kate Middleton, as the two left Prince William and Prince Harry at home while they enjoyed the women’s singles final at Wimbledon this past weekend.
Meghan’s good friend Serena Williams was playing Angelique Kerber at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, but Williams was a little off of her game as Kerber won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Kate and Meghan enjoyed the match from the royal box on Centre Court, where they sported casual summer looks – Meghan in a striped Ralph Lauren shirt and cream pants, and Kate in a patterned Jenny Packham dress.
After weeks of rumors that there was a feud or some kind of rivalry brewing between Meghan and Kate, the two were all smiles and enjoying themselves. It looks like things are just fine between them.
But, the same can’t be said for Meghan Markle and her dad.
