As the world knows by now, Kanye West has been stirring up a storm on social media as well as the traditional media, with comments about Trump, time, politics, and philosophy. The rapper even showed up to “TMZ Live” recently and dished on slavery, a very emotional and equally important topic in United States history.
However, this time, people are beginning to think he went too far. Kanye recently tweeted out his implicit support of Trump during the last week, sparking a widespread backlash from the intelligentsia and his fans alike.
And, of course, it was expected that TMZ would ask him about his controversial opinions, and the rapper had a surprising response in turn.
West explained that the idea that black people have been imprisoned for “400 years” is wrong because they haven’t been. The rapper explained that most peoples’ real prison is self-inflicted, it’s in their own mind through self-imposed limitations and inhibiting beliefs.
“Like, we’re mentally in prison. Like, slavery goes too direct to the idea of blacks.” He explained that white people and black people are all suffering in this mental prison as “one race. we’re the human race.”
And while some fans understood exactly what he said, some others, who presumably didn’t take the time to watch the video or read the full report on his comments, reacted with outrage.
Moreover, Kanye came with a woman named Candace Owens, who’s been described as a “rightwing” political commentator, despite her political views being closer to the right of center on the political spectrum.
In the interview, Kanye said that his referencing of Trump was a part of his attempt to get people to understand that it’s ok to have their own voice and opinions, to think free, without limitations.
However, one of the TMZ co-workers shot back and said that Kanye has a voice and he’s using it to be “harmful.”
