While in attendance at the Steve Irwin Gala, Bindi stated during an interview: ‘I hope he would like Chandler. I think he would have. I mean, Chandler is wonderful. He is always up for a challenge.
From jumping on crocodiles to getting his cocky bow tie on, you know he is doing good. So, I hope dad would love Chandler. We all love him.’
Bindi was not alone at the event named after her late father.
She was also joined by her sibling Robert and mother Terri.
The mom agreed that Steve, the famous Crocodile Hunter would’ve definitely been fond of her boyfriend, but only if he had passed his tests.
‘I think your dad would’ve tested him morning, noon as well as night, and then approve because your dad was sort of like that,’ Terri joked.
‘Dad always used to say, ‘If you are going to date a guy, he has to cross the crocodile pond first. And thankfully, Chandler is a wakeboarder. So you know what? Wakeboarding across the pond, I am sure he would’ve passed the test,’ Bindi concluded.
The family has been working very hard to keep Steve’s legacy alive.
Her brother, Robert, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon just last week to introduce the host to some wonderful wild animals.
Finally, the culmination of their efforts to remember him was the Steve Irwin Gala dinner this past weekend.
