If you are one of the few people who have not seen Infinity War, consider yoursef warned. This post contains MAJOR spoilers.

The death-heavy ending of Avengers: Infinity War left fans in shock, and now everyone is wondering what it all means for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thanos wiped out 50 percent of humanity – including Black Panther and King T’Challa – so does that mean there won’t be a Black Panther 2?

Screen Prism has taken the time to look at all of the characters who dissolved into nothingness following Thanos’ victory, and they put together a video analyzing Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet from the Marvel comics and how they might translate into future big-screen scenarios.

They consider multiple theories, including the possibility that the surviving original Avengers are existing in an alternate universe. But, ultimately the video shows how Infinity Wars lays the groundwork for the passing of the torch from old to new characters.

When it comes to Black Panther, there will be a sequel, and fans are speculating that many of the deaths in Infinity War will be reversed. Especially since a producer confirmed that Spider-Man: Homecoming will have a sequel that begins “within minutes” of the end of Avengers 4, which comes out next year. That means that they will have to undo Peter Parker’s demise.

As for what will happen to King T’Challa, Marvel CEO Kevin Feige has been careful when it comes to talking about plans for any of the characters after Avengers 4.

“We definitely want Ryan [Coogler, director of Black Panther] to come back and that’s actively being worked out right now,” Feige said.

But, that’s pretty much all we know about Black Panther 2. Other than that, Marvel is not going to confirm anything when it comes to movies that will come out post-Avengers 4. They aren’t even going to Comic-Con this year.

Which means fans won’t get any info about a Black Panther sequel for a while, and the chances of a second film showing up before 2020 are slim to none. Marvel does have an open date for an unnamed movie on February 18, 2022. That would be almost exactly four years since the first Black Panther release, so that date is a possibility.

When it comes to a possible plot, Feige says that they have ideas and a solid direction on where they want to go with the second one, but won’t give any details. Black Panther has been around for more than fifty years in comic books, so they have many options including battling a coup from within Wakanda or dealing with a Skrull invasion.

Avengers: Infinity War is now showing in theaters. After Avengers 4 comes out in May 2019, stay tuned for news on Black Panther 2.
