Kanye West is at the top of tabloid headlines, once again, except for a more valiant reason this time. During an explosive – and highly controversial – interview with TMZ, Kanye admitted he struggled with opioid addiction following a liposuction procedure, one which he claims was inspired by TMZ’s mean style of critical journalism.
And now, the rapper has channeled that same frustration into his most popular artform: hip-hop.
West and Travis Scott collaborated on the younger rapper’s new track, “Watch,” and in it, West dishes on his addiction. As you may know, this is Travis’ first song to be released following the birth of his child with Kylie Jenner, Stormi Webster.
As it was previously reported, Kanye found himself in serious trouble in the media following the first incident with the “Make America Great Again” hat, as well as his comments on slavery while speaking with Harvey Levin from TMZ.
The 40-year-old Yeezy designer implied that “slavery was a choice” in the sense that African-Americans in the Antebellum South were imprisoned due to their mindset, rather than historical and physical circumstances.
During that same interview, Kanye talked openly about the struggle with opioids, a struggle he never anticipated. The rapper claimed that following two days of being off opioids, he started to obsess over them. Sources speaking with other news outlets claim his family is worried about him, including Kris Jenner.
When probed on what she thought of Kanye’s recent remarks, the rapper’s mother-in-law, Jenner, 62, stated she would wait for Kanye to speak for himself, because she knows he always has good intentions.
“I’m just going to let him explain himself when the time is ready, and I just keep rolling on.”
Moreover, an insider who spoke with us claimed Kanye is merely a master at getting publicity, so most of his comments are an attempt to draw attention to his upcoming album.
